Are you a healthcare cleaning expert passionate about innovation, safety, and service excellence? We're looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help shape the future of healthcare cleaning across a national portfolio.

This is a strategic, high-impact role where you'll act as the trusted authority on healthcare cleaning standards, innovation, and performance improvement. If you're driven by compliance, quality, and creating safe environments for patients and staff, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Support and deliver a national healthcare cleaning strategy.
  • Translate NHS standards, HTM, IPC protocols, and clinical guidance into practical, high-quality cleaning procedures.
  • Shape operational models, bids, and mobilisation plans.
  • Build strong partnerships with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) leads.
  • Drive improvements in consistency, productivity, and quality.
  • Conduct site audits, benchmarking, and compliance reviews.
  • Embed measurable cleaning outcomes aligned to NHS standards.
  • Evaluate and introduce new cleaning tech, automation, robotics, and digital tools.
  • Champion innovation that enhances safety, efficiency, and environmental impact.
  • Support responsible chemical use and sustainable cleaning models.

  • 5+ years experience in healthcare cleaning management (FM, NHS, or specialist environments)
  • Expert knowledge of NHS cleaning standards, IPC, HTM, and audit frameworks
  • Proven ability to deliver compliant, innovative, high-quality services
  • Experience with productivity optimisation, workforce modelling, and digital cleaning technologies
  • Strong communication, influencing, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of ESG and sustainability in healthcare or FM
  • Professional certifications in cleaning science, healthcare environment management, or IPC (e.g., BICSc, RSPH, City and Guilds, ISSA)
