A Snapshot of Your Day

Imagine engineering station-level control and automation solutions that transform customer needs into integrated systems for substations! In this role, you will focus on station automation systems, including station controllers, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA, gateways, communication networks, and cyber security controls. You will coordinate OT network architecture, ensuring robust communication and security. Your strong communication skills will be essential as you collaborate with customers, suppliers, Project Managers, and the wider engineering team, making sure that all technical discussions are clear and effective.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Technical Responsibility: Lead the design of station-level automation architecture and OT integration strategy on allocated projects.
  • Conduct Technical Reviews: Provide senior guidance on system integration, communication architecture, and cyber-related engineering decisions.
  • Support Standards Application: Ensure compliance with customer specifications and engineering governance for substation automation and cyber security.
  • Mentor Engineers: Coach and review the work of less experienced engineers, promoting standardization of automation architectures and methods.
  • Champion Digitalization: Identify opportunities to streamline engineering processes and enhance quality through new tools and methodologies.
  • Plan and Support Testing: Coordinate FAT, integrated system testing, SAT, and commissioning readiness for automation solutions.

What You Bring

  • Educational Background: Degree, HND, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 10+ years in substation automation, SCADA, RTU, or control systems engineering, including system integration and testing.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of substation architecture, including HMIs, SCADA, RTUs, gateways, and communication protocols like IEC 61850.
  • Cyber Security Understanding: Familiarity with cyber security requirements relevant to substation automation and operational technology environments.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to produce clear and traceable automation engineering documentation, including signal lists and test records.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in customer-facing technical environments.
