A Snapshot of Your Day

You will be responsible for providing technical input into the production of Tender Engineering drawings/documents (Single Line Diagrams, Substation Layouts and Elevations, Primary BoQ including Equipment BoQ, Earthing Layouts / BoQ, Interlock BoQ, Busbar and Clamp BoQ, Multicore Cable Schedule and interface with Power System Studies and Civil Information) by others and providing approvals against Design Specifications, programme, budget and the appropriate quality, health and safety requirements and managing allocated personnel.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Support Primary Engineering in developing common engineering solutions and safe working practices throughout the substation lifecycle.
  • Ensure production of Primary Engineering drawings and documents meets design specifications, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Compile Bills of Quantities and conduct technical evaluations of supplier quotations.
  • Provide technical support to Primary Engineers and attend HAZID reviews, site visits, and technical meetings with clients.
  • Communicate business opportunities and implement improvements in tools, designs, and processes.
  • Assist in the professional development of proposals staff and coordinate with other departments on tenders

What You Bring

  • HNC/Degree qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience, with extensive knowledge of the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry.
  • Proficient in the latest Transmission and Distribution standards and Health and Safety regulations relevant to High Voltage Substation design.
  • Flexible in design solutions with strong decision-making skills and a positive, self-motivated attitude.
  • Experienced line manager, providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members and trainees.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical information clearly and managing client relationships effectively.
  • Knowledgeable in sustainability, continuous improvement processes, and commercial/contractual issues, with experience in a multi-cultural environment.
