Job Purpose
As a National Grid Representative, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of the UK's electricity network. Supporting the delivery of projects ranging from £100k to £10m, you'll help strengthen and expand the transmission network, enabling more renewable and low-carbon energy to reach homes and businesses across the UK.
Working across the South East region, including Hampshire, Sussex, and Kent, you'll oversee the safe and efficient delivery of site-based construction activities, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. You'll act as National Grid's on-site representative, working closely with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver critical infrastructure projects that keep the country's electricity network running reliably.
What You'll Do
- Act as National Grid's on-site representative for a range of transmission construction projects.
- Oversee the safe delivery of works including HV transformer and shunt reactor installations, cable replacements, cyber security upgrades, and protection and control system replacements.
- Ensure all site activities are delivered in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Support project teams in meeting Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations and industry best practice.
- Carry out site inspections, safety audits, and quality assurance checks.
- Lead and coordinate site meetings with contractors, stakeholders, and delivery teams.
- Support scheme development through site visits, reporting, and collaboration with design teams.
- Assist with the procurement and management of plant, equipment, and site resources.
- Build effective relationships with contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Act as Principal Contractor Representative or Site Manager when required, providing additional leadership and development opportunities.

About You
We're looking for someone with experience supervising construction or infrastructure projects within utilities, engineering, energy, or a similar regulated environment. You'll be passionate about safety, enjoy working collaboratively on site, and be confident managing multiple stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
Essential
- Level 3 NVQ, ONC, or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering, construction, or technical discipline.
- Proven experience as a Site Supervisor, Site Manager, Project Lead, or similar role within utilities, infrastructure, engineering, or construction.
- Good understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
- Experience working with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) requirements.
- Awareness of project, contract, and stakeholder management principles.
- Full UK driving license.
Desirable
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
- Experience acting as a Principal Contractor Representative, Site Manager, or Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and delivery under NEC contracts.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
- Experience delivering projects within electricity transmission, power, utilities, or other critical infrastructure environments.

What You'll Get
- A Salary up to £57,000 pa including allowance + Contribution Pension total up to 18%.
- London Allowance and Market supplements are applicable to this role.
- Company Car, Bonus, Paid overtime.
- 37 Hours per week Monday to Friday + 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days.
