In a time of constant change and possibility we need new talent to pursue commercial opportunities, fuelled by world-class insight and expertise. We’re always striving for more innovative digital solutions, sustainable outcomes and closer collaboration across our company and beyond, and you could be part of that too.
About the job
We’re looking for a Performance Advisor to join our Subsurface/Capital Development Performance team, supporting strategic decision-making across the Capital Development organisation. The performance team combines technical expertise with performance insight and business planning. This role will be focused primarily on capital efficiency and outcome predictability, integrating closely with capital allocation and portfolio processes.
Working closely with senior leaders, regional teams, portfolio teams, and finance, you’ll play a key role in helping the business understand performance, track delivery, and make informed decisions. You’ll contribute to both internal leadership discussions and external communications, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and impact. This is an opportunity to work as part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, while broadening your skills in Finance and business planning, driving performance improvements across the Capital Development organization.
Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027.
What you’ll be doing
In this role you will:
- Lead data analysis and strategic insight generation on topics including capital efficiency to support key partners including the Capital Development leadership team
- Drive performance improvements in the Capital Development organisation through analysis of predictability metrics (subsurface, wells, projects outcomes vs promise)
- Partner with the subsurface Portfolio team to provide input to longer term planning and strategic decision making
- Support and improve the QPF (Quarterly Performance Forecast) process with a focus on the deployment of capital
- Develop and publish standardised and automated management information (MI) reporting products such as reports, dashboards, applications etc.
- Partner with key capital development collaborators to measure performance metrics and generate insights for the quarterly scorecard
- Generate performance material for quarterly group and P&O level performance reviews

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
