Summer Internship – Technology, Data and AI

About the Role

We're looking for creative problem-solvers who are passionate about technology, engineering, data, and AI. Join our ten-week Summer Internship Programme and gain hands-on experience applying these skills to real business challenges, while helping to shape products and services that support our colleagues and customers.

With technology, engineering, data, and AI embedded across every part of Royal London, placement opportunities span the full breadth of the Group. What You’ll Be Doing

With support and coaching from your People Leader, you’ll gain hands-on experience of life at Royal London, take ownership of meaningful pieces of work, and contribute to real business priorities. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll develop valuable professional skills, behaviors, and commercial awareness while building your confidence in the workplace. You'll collaborate across teams, analyse information, solve problems, and contribute fresh perspectives, gaining exposure to how technology, engineering, data, and AI are applied across a wide range of roles, disciplines, and business areas throughout Royal London.

Throughout the ten-week programme, you'll also work as part of a wider intern cohort on a group project, bringing together your learning and insights to develop recommendations that you’ll present to senior leaders at the end of the internship.

Who We’re Looking For

Penultimate or final-year students from a technology, engineering, data, numerical, or related degree discipline, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar.

We also welcome applications from students in other disciplines who can demonstrate a strong interest in technology, engineering, data, and AI.

  • Comfortable using technology and digital tools to solve problems, analyse information, and generate insights.
  • Experience with tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau, Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate), Jira, Confluence, Github, Azure DevOps, Copilot, or similar would be beneficial.
  • Curious, adaptable learners who embrace change and new ways of working.
  • Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Organised self-starters who can manage multiple priorities and take ownership of their work.

  • Locations: Edinburgh, Manchester, and London
  • Assessment centres: January 2027
