Offshore Superintendent
Texo Recruitment are recruiting for an Offshore Superintendent to join our Client’s Major Projects and Infrastructure division and support with their Offshore Marine Works.
This is an Offshore position on a temporary contract. Applicants must have UK Right to Work, sponsorship is not available for this role.
Role Purpose
To represent the Client’s interests offshore and ensure that subcontractors carry out works to the required standard, and in accordance with the design & specification. Responsible for monitoring and reporting of offshore activities and maintaining and promoting HSE and quality standards. Involvement in the planning of future offshore works campaigns.
Organisational
- Works with package managers and other operational leads (including client) to quickly and effectively communicate activities offshore.
- Works with other offshore superintendents to ensure a smooth handover of information.
Accountabilities
Core

- Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities
- Contribute to the performance of the team and undertake training as appropriate
Health Safety & Environmental
- Review Method Statements and Risk Assessments and makes improvements as appropriate
- Communicate and record any and all HSE accident / incidents
- Promote Zero Harm whilst in the offshore environment
- Ensure that RAMS are followed correctly and manage change to RAMS whilst offshore
- Check that activities take place in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with RAMS and maritime regulations
- Monitor and check vessel permits to work
- Carry out safety audit / inspections

Quality
- Acts as a witness / hold point signatory for offshore activities identified by ITPs
- Reviews, checks and feeds back on quality related activities and documentation
- Implements systems and processes to support construction of the works in accordance with the specification
- Communicates on activities and ensures that quality standards are adhered to
- Carries out site / vessel Audits to check works and documentation compliance
- Liaises with package managers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues
Productivity
- Captures and Reports daily progress and offshore activities
- Updates and records progress route maps / programme
- Communicates KPI compliance to package managers
Commercial
- Understands cost and value
- Understands the commercial mechanism in place for offshore activities and the requirement for information to support this (e.g. weather downtime mechanism)
Personal Qualities and Experience
Core
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours given the offshore environment
- Confident to challenge behaviours that do not meet the Client’s standards
- Able to work on own initiative
- Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card. SSSTS or SMSTS qualified
- Excellent team player, able to work competently and independently without continuous supervision
- Strong communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills
- Able to react to unforeseen situations and effectively communicate developments to stakeholders
- Solution orientated approach to issue resolution
- Demonstrates required behaviours to align to project and team objectives

Health Safety & Environmental
- Understands method statements and risk assessments, able to develop new and improved safe systems of work in line with offshore standards
- Understands the principles of accident / incident investigation and has good working knowledge of the process
- Good working knowledge of current H&S Legislation, including maritime regulations
- Confident to challenge unsafe behaviours and ensure HSE standards are implemented
Engineering Control
- An understanding of techniques associated with offshore activities
- An understanding of the use of key engineering documentation for offshore activities
Quality
- Confident in witnessing key activities / hold points in alignment with ITPs
- Understanding of requirements for handover, including certification required in line with the specific project requirements
Productivity
- Able to produce daily progress reports / updates detailing key activities, including look aheads
- Able to communicate progress to measure against KPIs
- Knowledge and management of construction process associated with working in an offshore environment
Commercial
- Experienced at accurately recording activities in alignment with commercial arrangements
Desirable
- Good leadership skills
- Wide ranging independent judgement evident
- Previous experience of a similar role (offshore client representative or similar)
- Experience of a wide range of offshore projects
- Nuclear experience
