Role Overview
The Superintendent, Nautical and Deck operates within a vessel delivery team, providing direct operational support to multiple P&O Cruises and Cunard vessels. Working closely with on board officers, shoreside colleagues and the Senior Superintendent, Nautical and Deck, you will help ensure nautical and deck operations are delivered safely, compliantly and consistently.
Key accountabilities include:
- Lead on marine safety and emergency preparedness across assigned vessels, including emergency response plans, SOLAS documentation, emergency drills and maritime safety assurance activities.
- Take ownership of a designated half-fleet pod as the primary shoreside lead for nautical and deck operations, providing responsive and practical guidance to assigned vessels.
- Provide subject matter expertise and navigation assurance across areas including voyage planning, stability, mooring, tender operations, LSA/FFA readiness and emergency response.
- Drive the effective implementation of maritime standards, challenge non-compliance and identify opportunities for operational improvement.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- STCW Certificate of Competency, Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch, Regulation II/1.
- Practical seagoing experience combined with strong technical knowledge of nautical and deck operations.
- Experience implementing nautical and deck safety requirements in an operational maritime environment, ensuring compliance with international regulations and company standards.
- Experience supporting vessel operations, emergency response and assurance activities, including incident support and continuous improvement.
