Tasks
Demonstrated success in a Pit Boss role for shaft sinking works, specifically focusing on underpinning & caisson of segmental linings, SCL for shafts, adits and groundwater management in line with BS 6164 requirements.
- Extensive, hands-on background in shaft construction.
- Strong understanding of heavy plant operations.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and excavation support sheets.
- Determining efficient methodologies for works delivery and communicating these to engineers, management and workforce or subcontractors.
- Supporting the project behavioural safety programme to maintain a high performing, collaborative culture within the team.
- Directing site operations, managing subcontractors and coordinating daily workloads for plant and labour.
- Setting the highest standards for health and safety and environmental compliance.
- Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with project specifications.
- Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with the programme and budget, identifying strategies to improve schedule and cost performance.

Skills/Experience
- Previous experience in shaft sinking using SCL and segmental lining.
- Experience/knowledge of working on a major project.
- Experience acting as a Pit Boss.
- In depth knowledge of BS6164.
- Experienced in SCL tunnel & adit works.
- Drives Health and Safety Standards.
- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
- Able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality.
- Good communication skills.

Qualifications
- CSCS Gold Sup. Card.
- EFNARC Examiner.
- SMSTS Trained.
- TSTS - Tunnel Safety Training Scheme.
- Safety Critical Medical.
- Abrasive Wheels Trained / Hot Works Permit.
