Superintendent – Staffordshire Police

Location: Staffordshire Police Headquarters

Contract: Permanent

Closing Date: Friday 14th August, 12:00 midday

Be part of building a safe and confident Staffordshire

Staffordshire Police is seeking to appoint forward-thinking Superintendents to help lead our organisation at a pivotal time. Our ambition is clear: to deliver a safe and confident Staffordshire, secured by an outstanding local police service that is passionate about serving its communities, caring for its people, and working in strong partnership with others.

As a Superintendent, you will play a critical role in delivering our Force priorities. These include strengthening our focus on vulnerability, delivering high-quality investigations, improving public confidence, and driving down crime and antisocial behaviour across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire is a county of proud communities: from rural villages and market towns to the urban centres of Stoke-on-Trent, Tamworth, and Burton upon Trent. The area faces diverse policing challenges. Our communities expect a modern service that is visible, accessible, respectful, and proactive in keeping them safe.

This is an exciting opportunity for highly capable leaders to join a Force committed to modernising, partnering, and innovating—supported by investment in technology, training, and people.

Our opportunities are open to both substantive Superintendents looking for a lateral transfer or, substantive Chief Inspectors applying for promotion.

About The Role

As a Superintendent, you will:

  • Lead a large and/or complex area of command within forces and across collaborations, strategic alliances, and partnerships, carrying responsibility for all activities in their area.
  • Carry responsibility for strategic or policy lead for one or more areas of policing across the force or organisation.
  • Play a critical lead role in operational policing for major or critical events or incidents. This includes planning and directing the activities in line with the legal framework and wider policing policies/objectives to uphold the law, ensure public safety, and strengthen public confidence.
  • Carry specific legal powers to enable the maintenance of law and order.
  • Contribute to the development of culture, climate, and working processes in their area to ensure adherence to standards, and the promotion of accountability and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
