We are currently looking to recruit dedicated Support Workers to join our friendly team, supporting our service users living in our supported living services. We are particularly looking for candidates who can help cover our vital evening and weekend shifts!

📍 Work Location: Bishop's Stortford and Harlow. Due to the locations and requirements of our service users, the right candidate must be a driver with full access to a car and business insurance.

Service Locations & Requirements

We have multiple Supported Living services based across Bishop's Stortford, offering a variety of environments to suit our residents and staff. Whether you prefer a specific environment or like the variety of working across different houses, we have options for you:

  • Female-Only Services: We have three dedicated female-only households in the area. (Please note: These roles require female-only Support Workers as a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010).
  • Mixed Services: We have several households that accommodate residents in a mixed-gender environment, as well as flexible services that offer both mixed and gender-segregated support.

💷 Pay Rates, Allowances & Earnings Examples

  • Weekdays (Mon-Fri): £13.15 per hour
  • Weekends (Sat & Sun): £13.36 per hour
  • Mileage Allowance: £0.45p per mile

(Flexible zero-hour contracts available, paid in a block)

💸 What does a shift look like in your pocket?

  • Standard Weekend Shift (8 hours): Work an 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM shift on a Saturday and earn £106.88, plus your mileage!
  • Long Weekend Shift (13 hours): Pick up an 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM shift on a Sunday and earn £173.68 in a single day, plus your mileage!

⏰ Shift Patterns

Our services operate 7 days a week, offering a range of flexible shifts to suit different lifestyles.

  • Day Shifts: 08:00/09:00 AM – 2:00/3:00 PM (or long days up to 9:00 PM)
  • Evening Shifts: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Sleep-in / Waking Nights: 9:00 PM – 07:00 AM

Job Description

🌟 Your Role as a Support Worker

As a Support Worker, your main job purpose is to provide direct care and support to the individuals who use our services. You will do this by assisting, preparing, and enabling the development of their social, physical, personal, and health care needs in accordance with their Personal Centred Plan.

While you will support people with their personal care where appropriate and necessary (always ensuring their dignity is safeguarded and respected), this role is about so much more than just personal care.

You will also:

  • Assist in the planning of recreational, social, vocational, and educational events and activities, escorting and supporting individuals as necessary out in the community.
  • Encourage and facilitate the autonomy, personal choice, preferences, and independence of the individuals we support.
  • Work as part of a team, working closely with families, friends, advocates, and other health and social care professionals to ensure the people we support lead the lives they choose.
  • Safely and competently support people in taking medication in accordance with their care plan.
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate, legible, and concise written and financial records.
  • Safeguard vulnerable adults and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Support individuals to make decisions, in accordance with capacity to make those decisions and in line with any recording undertaken through the mental capacity act.

Qualifications

🦸 What You’ll Need (Besides a Cape!)

  • Relevant experience in supporting individuals within the social and/or health care sector is essential.
  • The ability to work flexibly across days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, organisation, and time management skills.
  • A strong values base which supports the rights of the people who use our services.
  • ✅ Genuine compassion and respect for others.
  • ✅ A positive, can-do attitude (superhero energy encouraged!).
  • ✅ The right to work in the UK.
