Company Description

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity and the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care, operating across all four nations. Alongside our clinical services, our retail portfolio plays a crucial role in generating vital income, increasing brand awareness, and connecting meaningfully with local communities.

Our Retail team are launching an exciting new Superstore in Bishop Auckland, and we are seeking an innovative Store Manager to lead the setup, opening, and ongoing success of this large format retail space. This store will offer a unique shopping experience, combining a wide range of bought-in products with quality donated goods, creating an environment that is both commercially competitive and strongly rooted in community support.

Job Description

You will be responsible for:

  • Running the store commercially including displaying and merchandising, stock management and generation, maintaining store standards, layout of the store, and opening and closing of the store.
  • Ensuring an excellent customer and supporter service throughout the store, on the sales floor, and at the till point, including payment processes and customer loyalty sign-up.
  • Managing the movement and redistribution of large volumes of donations, with the ability to understand where to redistribute high-value or excess stock, including online marketplaces and other Marie Curie stores.
  • Managing, recruiting, developing, and retaining a diverse team (both paid and volunteers), ensuring that they are motivated, trained, and equipped with enough knowledge to maximize their potential.
  • Generating additional income/stock through local community and corporate engagement, remaining proactive to ensure engagement is high.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
