Supervised Contact Worker (Sunday to Thursday) – 3 Month Contract
Location: Churchill Court, 2 Westmoreland Road, Bromley, Kent, BR1 1AS
Rate: £18.81 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3 Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
Working Pattern: Sunday to Thursday (Non-Negotiable)
DBS: Enhanced DBS Required
Pay: Bi-weekly
Summary
Bromley Council is in search of a dedicated and empathetic Supervised Contact Worker to deliver a secure, consistent, and child-centered supervised contact service for children, young people, and their families. The role involves facilitating and overseeing contact sessions in various settings, including Contact Centres, Family Centres, community venues, and family homes when necessary. The primary focus is on safeguarding children's welfare while fostering positive family relationships and aiding informed decision-making through precise observation and reporting. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in working with children and families within a safeguarding framework.
Important Requirement
This position requires a fixed working schedule from Sunday to Thursday, which is non-negotiable.
Responsibilities
Contact Supervision
- Facilitate and oversee contact sessions between children, family members, and significant others.
- Ensure sessions are safe, child-focused, and align with agreed plans.
- Observe, monitor, and evaluate the quality of interactions, attachment behaviors, and parenting capacity.
- Intervene appropriately if concerns arise and terminate sessions when necessary to protect children.
- Ensure contact settings are welcoming, safe, and suitable for children.

Safeguarding & Child Protection
- Protect children by identifying risks and recognizing harmful or abusive behaviors.
- Act in accordance with safeguarding procedures and child protection guidelines.
- Prioritize the child's welfare and safety at all times.
- Participate in case conferences, reviews, professional meetings, and court proceedings as needed.
Recording & Reporting
- Generate accurate, factual, and evidence-based reports after contact sessions.
- Document observations related to:
- Child wellbeing
- Parent-child interactions
- Attachment behaviors
- Parenting capacity
- Safeguarding concerns
- Prepare reports for social care assessments, reviews, and court proceedings.
- Maintain precise records using relevant databases and Microsoft Office tools.
Family Support
- Support parents and carers through role modeling and guidance.
- Promote positive parenting techniques and meaningful contact experiences.
- Assist families in establishing routines, boundaries, and age-appropriate activities during sessions.
- Monitor and document parental progress and changes over time.
Service Delivery
- Prepare and tidy contact facilities before and after sessions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Promptly report maintenance, health and safety, or equipment issues.
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and Data Protection regulations.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people, and families.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Experience in observing, assessing, and documenting family interactions.
- Ability to produce clear, objective, and accurate reports.
- Experience in a child-focused environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle challenging situations professionally and calmly.
- Understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Desirable
- Experience in Children's Social Care, Family Support, Contact Centres, Early Help, or Family Services.
- Experience preparing reports for court proceedings or statutory assessments.
- Relevant qualification in Childcare, Social Care, Family Support, Youth Work, or a related field.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to transport for business use.
