Rising Stars Fostering Limited is an Independent Fostering Agency dedicated to providing high-quality care and support to children and foster carers. We work closely with Local Authorities to create stable, nurturing environments where children feel safe, valued and empowered. Guided by the belief that every child deserves a supportive home, our team is committed to helping young people build strong foundations for a positive and fulfilling future.

Role Description

We are seeking a committed and skilled Supervising Social Worker to join our team. This is a full-time position based in East London, operating on a hybrid model with two days per week in our Stanmore office.

The post holder will provide supervision, guidance and practical support to foster carers through regular visits, supervision meetings and ongoing professional advice. Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing assessments, reports and statutory visits
  • Contributing to care planning
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and agency policies
  • Close liaison with Local Authorities and partner professionals
  • Attendance at reviews and meetings
  • Advocating for the welfare and rights of children in placement

  • Professional social work qualification (BA or MA in Social Work) and registration with the relevant regulatory body.
  • Minimum one year’s experience in fostering, looked-after children, or child protection social work, including supervising or supporting foster carers.
  • Strong assessment, report-writing and care-planning skills, with the ability to manage caseloads and meet statutory deadlines.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills with children, carers, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, fostering legislation, statutory guidance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work on-site in London, travel for home visits and meetings, and work flexibly when required.
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, equality, diversity and trauma-informed, child-centred approaches.
  • Competence in using case management systems, IT tools and maintaining accurate, confidential records.
  • Experience delivering or supporting foster carer training is desirable.
  • Enhanced background checks and references required prior to appointment.
