Customer Service Supervisor
Purfleet
Monday-Friday
Main Purpose of the Role
DSV Road is recruiting for an Export Customer Service Supervisor in our offices in Purfleet.
The role will be reporting directly to the Customer Service Manager and will be responsible for supervising the Export Customer Service team and overseeing export traffic movements from the UK. The position will consist of a mix of administration as well as operational and commercial tasks.
The role's main purpose is to identify and achieve the optimum utilisation of all resources to the profitable benefit of the company and customers, implement key business strategies and policies for the Export Customer Service department, in line with company financial and operational objectives. In cooperation with the management team, ensure the day-to-day running of the business is in accord with customers’ service level agreements and agreed transit times.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Lead, motivate and support the Export Customer Service team to deliver high-level customer service and achieve departmental objectives.
- Manage team resources effectively, including holiday approvals, absence management, and organizing operational cover to ensure service continuity.
- Allocate workloads and prioritize tasks to meet customer requirements, service level agreements, and business deadlines.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and team briefings to support employee development and engagement.
- Identify training requirements and support the development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and formal training plans.
- Act as the first point of escalation for customer service issues, ensuring prompt and professional resolution.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of customer bookings, operational instructions, and customer communications.
- Evaluate departmental performance against operational and financial targets and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and all relevant legislative and regulatory obligations.
- Promote a positive working environment focused on teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning initiatives within the department.
- Support and assist all DSV Group companies as and when required.
- Ensure any operational, customer, or personnel issues are addressed promptly and professionally.

About You
- Previous experience within the road freight industry
- Good financial awareness
- Ability to be highly organized
- Have a strong customer focus
- Previous management skills with the capacity to drive performance-related colleagues
- Ability to review, support, and grow the team and business area by bringing your own ideas
