JOB SUMMARY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Engineering Supervisor to join a highly skilled engineering team, supporting the delivery of bespoke projects from concept through to completion.

Working closely with the General Manager and Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical engineering expertise while coordinating project activities, suppliers, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

This role offers a strong balance of technical engineering, project coordination, and supervisory responsibilities, making it ideal for someone looking to develop towards a future Project Management position.

  • Hybrid working is available (up to two days from home).
  • The successful candidate should expect to spend approximately 20% of their time travelling internationally to customer sites for meetings, inspections, and project support activities, increasing to around 40-50% as the role develops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse project specifications, performance requirements, and customer needs.
  • Develop practical engineering solutions and support equipment design activities.
  • Produce general arrangement and detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD 2D.
  • Prepare weights, area calculations, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Review material certificates, manufacturing records, and procedure documentation.
  • Provide technical information on manufacturing processes, material selection, and product capabilities.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate project activities with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to project support personnel and third-party contractors.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure milestones, quality requirements, and delivery deadlines are achieved.
  • Lead technical review meetings and project progress discussions with customers and internal teams.
  • Support the General Manager and Project Manager with project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Assist in mentoring and developing junior engineers and project support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Travel internationally to support customer meetings, inspections, and project execution activities.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Project Engineering role.
  • Degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent engineering qualification preferred.
  • Strong AutoCAD 2D experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience coordinating project activities, contractors, suppliers, or project teams.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in customer-facing situations.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with the ability to take ownership of projects.
  • Demonstrable leadership or supervisory experience would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Previous workshop experience desirable but not essential.

  • The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 09.00 – 17.30 and Friday 09.00 – 15.00.
  • Salary: Dependant on experience.
