Supervisor - Highways Maintenance

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Supervisor to join our Highways Maintenance team operating across the Strategic Road Network in the South West. This is a key operational role responsible for supervising maintenance and response activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will lead and coordinate frontline operational teams, managing resources, plant, vehicles, subcontractors, and work programmes while maintaining a strong focus on safety, customer service, and operational performance.

This role requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage planned maintenance, emergency response activities, and winter service operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate highways maintenance and response operations across the network.
• Plan, organise and control works to ensure delivery within agreed timescales, budgets, and resources.
• Manage and motivate operational teams, maintaining high standards of performance, discipline, and safety.
• Coordinate labour, plant, vehicles, materials, and subcontractors to maximise operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and industry standards.
• Monitor work quality and resolve operational issues as they arise on site.
• Support emergency response and winter maintenance activities, including participation in out-of-hours rotas.
• Maintain accurate records, timesheets, overtime submissions, and operational documentation.
• Build effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders, customers, and the wider operational team.
• Assist in identifying training and development needs within the workforce.
