Overview of Role
This role exists to oversee and develop our Step Forward Housing & Employability programmes, creating and managing an environment in which vulnerable individuals can flourish.
The role involves building strong, effective partnerships with existing organisations, including Hope Into Action and Christian rehabilitation services, while actively identifying and developing new relationships that can strengthen and extend the work.
It also includes overseeing the referral process, ensuring that individuals are welcomed into the right opportunities with appropriate care and support, as well as recruiting, training and supporting volunteers who help deliver the programmes.
At the heart of the role is the responsibility to ensure that every partnership, referral, volunteer relationship and new opportunity contributes to the wider vision of Step Forward Housing & Employability:
“Helping people in recovery and those leaving prison become more like Jesus, while building lives characterised by purpose, dignity and hope.”
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery and development of the Step Forward Housing & Employability programmes, ensuring participants receive appropriate support, opportunities and pathways for progression.
- Develop and maintain both operational and strategic relationships with employers, churches, prisons, recovery organisations, educational providers, housing providers and community organisations / charities for the purpose of creating opportunities for participants.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with the individuals on our programmes.
- Work alongside Hope Into Action and other referrers throughout the referral and interview process for prospective residents and participants.
- Promote and maintain good safeguarding practice across the programmes, responding appropriately to concerns and working within Trent Vineyard's safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Identify, recruit, train and support volunteers who contribute to the programmes through mentoring, practical assistance and befriending.
- Gather, collate and communicate statistics and stories required for monitoring, evaluation, funding and impact reporting.
- Contribute to the ongoing strategic development of Step Forward as a pathway of Christian community, growth and opportunity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
