Supplier & Contract Analyst (Fixed Term Contract)
About The Role
At West Northants Council, it’s about our people and the difference they make. As a Supplier & Contract Analyst, you’ll play a key role in helping us maximise the value we receive from our technology and digital investments. Working within our Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) service, you’ll support the management of a significant portfolio of suppliers and contracts that underpin the delivery of services across the Council and its partner organisations.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining commercial awareness, data analysis and relationship management. You’ll work closely with contract owners, budget holders and suppliers to ensure contracts perform as expected, suppliers meet their obligations and spending remains aligned with agreed budgets and forecasts. With a varied portfolio spanning software, hardware, cloud, telephony, network and digital services, no two days will be the same.
We offer a flexible and supportive working environment, with a hybrid approach that includes a minimum of two days per week in the office, helping colleagues balance collaboration, development and wellbeing.
What will you be doing?
- Support the full lifecycle management of DDaT suppliers and contracts, ensuring records are accurate, contracts remain compliant and key milestones such as renewals, reviews and procurement activity are proactively managed.
- Work with contract owners and suppliers to help monitor performance, maintain supplier relationships and contribute to the development of supplier scorecards and performance measures that drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Analyse supplier, contract and expenditure data to identify trends, risks, opportunities and future requirements. Compare forecasts against actual spend, review contract utilisation, monitor budgets and provide meaningful reporting that supports informed decision-making.
- Support procurement activity for lower-value contracts, helping to ensure compliance with procurement legislation and internal processes.
- Act as a key point of contact for supplier and contract-related queries, working with colleagues and suppliers to resolve issues, provide updates and maintain positive working relationships.
- From monitoring invoices and supporting contract renewals through to meeting directly with suppliers, your work will help ensure the Council's technology investments deliver value, performance and reliability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
