Role: Supplier Development Engineer
Job Type: Permanent

The Role
A Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for assessing and developing supplier capability, improving manufacturing processes and performance and ensuring suppliers consistently meet quality, cost, delivery, regulatory and customer requirements.
Your responsibilities:
- Assess supplier capability and capacity, identify performance gaps and agree structured development plans with suppliers.
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits to evaluate manufacturing capability, process maturity, and compliance with quality, regulatory and customer requirements.
- Lead structured problem-solving with suppliers to contain issues, determine root causes, implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Monitor supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and risk indicators and drive recovery actions where targets are not achieved.
- Develop and implement improvement plans that increase supplier process capability, reduce defects and lead time and improve production stability.
- Work with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and programme teams to deliver supplier development, industrialisation and production-readiness activities.
- Support APQP, PPAP, process validation and production-readiness reviews to ensure suppliers can meet programme and serial-production requirements.
- Build effective supplier relationships, escalate risks when required and promote sustainable operational excellence across the supply chain.

Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Manufacturing process - Machining, Casting, forging
- Knowledge of special manufacturing processes, including:
- Heat treatment processes such as solution heat treatment, ageing and case hardening
- Surface treatment and finishing processes such as anodising, plating and painting
- Joining and consolidation processes such as welding, brazing and sintering
- Fluorescent penetrant inspection
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing quality, inspection methods and supplier process controls
- Working knowledge of aerospace quality standards, including AS9100 and AS13100
- Practical knowledge of quality and supplier development tools, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D and root-cause analysis
- Good knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Experience in project management, supplier development planning and operational risk management
- Effective communication, reporting and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly
- Strong supplier negotiation, relationship management and cross-functional stakeholder management skills
