If you're a Supplier Quality Engineer who'd rather be measuring a part than updating a procedure, then I've got the hands on role you've been looking for.
Lately, a lot of SQE roles have drifted into admin. Days filled with chasing quality agreements, or filling out endless forms, but this one isn't like that. Ok, there's a few forms, it's a QA role after all, but it's not all you do.
A Medical Device manufacturing company are looking to grow out their Supplier Quality function and you'd be joining as the second SQE in a team that's planned to grow to four or five.
The business are looking for someone with an engineering background, instead of a QMS heavy one. This is because day to day will involve real engineering work.
- You'll create FAIRs for new suppliers and new products, working out the critical requirements from the drawing and measuring against them.
- You'll build supplier control plans that decide what Goods Inwards actually need to check. And when Quality Inspection aren't sure whether a part is acceptable, you're the person they come to. Sometimes you'll agree it's a non conformance and sometimes you'll pick up a gauge and prove it passes.
- You'll also raise SCARs and dig into root cause properly. If there are two standard gauges giving different readings, you'll need to figure out why.

Now about the company.
As the team is growing, there's no hiding that it's a busy environment currently. Although systems are in place, nothing is totally polished, but that's what they're looking to get to. So you need to be someone that is comfortable with changing priorities and picking things up quickly.

What they need to see:
- An engineering background and previous Supplier Quality Engineer experience
- Medical device manufacturing under ISO 13485 (not pharma)
- Hands on FAIR experience and familiarity with supplier control plans
- Confidence with complex drawings and GD&T
You don't need to be senior. Around 18 months + of genuine SQE experience and a can do attitude will get you a long way here.
Supplier audit experience is a bonus, but not essential, the engineering background if most important here.
Please note, this role is 5 days per week onsite. If you aren't prepared for site work, or you are looking for a hybrid set up, then this isn't for you.
