Supplier Quality Engineer - Maritime Defence

Location: Dorset Innovation Park, Winfrith

The opportunity

Join one of the maritime-defence industry's most respected engineering businesses.

TKMS ATLAS UK develops advanced sonar, autonomous, mine-countermeasure and underwater systems for the Royal Navy and international customers. They are now looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure components and assemblies meet the demanding standards required for mission-critical maritime programmes.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing supplier quality performance from qualification and product introduction through to manufacture and delivery.
  • Conducting supplier audits, inspections and quality reviews.
  • Investigating non-conformances and leading root-cause and corrective-action activity.
  • Working with suppliers and internal engineering, procurement and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Supporting supplier development and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for

  • Experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer or Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer.
  • Strong supplier auditing, non-conformance and corrective-action experience.
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa and CAPA.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience within defence, maritime, aerospace or another regulated engineering environment would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to composites, welding or IPC-controlled electronic assemblies is particularly desirable. Experience of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, First Article Inspection, ISO 9001 or AS9100 would also be beneficial.
  • A relevant engineering, manufacturing or quality qualification-or equivalent industry experience-is required.
