Role description

At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Supply Chain Lead to be based at our customer’s site in Halewood.

Our Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) division is a fast-growing function delivering innovative projects for global customers across Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery sectors, supported by highly skilled engineering teams.

The Role

The Supply Chain Lead is responsible for the end-to-end planning and execution of the external supply chain, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and reliable delivery of materials from suppliers to manufacturing plants. The role leads supplier logistics, transportation, packaging, inventory strategy, freight management, and supply chain risk mitigation to support programme delivery and production requirements.

Area of Responsibility

Supply Chain Planning & Supplier Management

  • Develop supply strategies for new and existing programmes.
  • Align demand, supply, inventory and production requirements.
  • Monitor material availability and mitigate shortages.
  • Manage supplier performance, readiness and delivery capability.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support programme launches and production requirements.

Logistics, Packaging & Transportation

  • Define packaging strategies and ensure compliance with quality, sustainability and cost targets.
  • Manage inbound transportation networks and logistics providers.
  • Monitor freight performance, delivery reliability and costs.
  • Coordinate packaging implementation, logistics optimisation and recovery plans where required.

Customs & International Logistics

  • Support import/export compliance and international logistics activities.
  • Ensure adherence to trade regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for logistics efficiency and cost reduction.

Programme & Launch Support

  • Support supply chain readiness across prototype, pre-production and SOP phases.
  • Contribute to APQP, PPAP and supplier launch activities.
  • Manage supply chain risks and provide readiness reporting.
  • Support successful programme launches and production ramp-up.

Inventory & Continuous Improvement

  • Define inventory and safety stock strategies.
  • Balance inventory optimisation with production continuity.
  • Monitor inventory performance and working capital.
  • Drive lean supply chain, cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.

Knowledge / Experience

  • Significant experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics or Manufacturing Operations.
  • Experience within Automotive OEM or Tier 1 environments.
  • Good understanding of: Supply Chain Planning, Supplier Management, Packaging & Logistics, Freight & Transportation, APQP / PPAP, Inventory Management, ERP Systems (SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis, OMP, etc.).
  • Experience supporting programme delivery and vehicle launches.
