Supply Chain & Procurement Manager | Harwell, Oxfordshire

The Opportunity

A leading global engineering and technology organisation is looking for an experienced Supply Chain & Procurement Manager to lead and develop its UK supply chain and procurement function.

This is a senior role combining strategic supply chain leadership, procurement management and business transformation. You will be responsible for strengthening the existing supply chain operation while developing the strategy, processes, systems and supplier network required to support continued business growth.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Programmes, Quality and Finance, you will play a key role in ensuring the organisation has a resilient, commercially effective and scalable supply chain capable of supporting complex engineering programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own a 3–5 year supply chain strategy aligned with business growth and programme requirements.
  • Assess the current supply chain operating model, processes, systems and capabilities and define the future structure required to support growth.
  • Lead and develop the existing procurement and buying team, providing clear objectives, direction and performance management.
  • Develop strategic sourcing strategies across key categories and areas of expenditure.
  • Establish a structured supplier segmentation and supplier-management framework, assessing suppliers against cost, quality, delivery, risk and capability.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks including single-source dependencies, capacity constraints, long lead times and supplier financial or operational concerns.
  • Develop the supplier network through alternative sourcing, dual sourcing, supplier development and strategic partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, governance, automation and ERP utilisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
