Supply Chain Manager - International Imports

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding area of the business and play a pivotal role to create great availability to our existing and new customers.

This role is fast paced and you'll be at the heart of decision making, using data and influence to make improvement and change!

As part of this role, you will be responsible for product movement overseas and domestic, with the aim of delivering strong availability for customers, through a sustainable transport plan, for the most efficient cost to the business. This role must partner well with Retail & Logistics internal teams, to ensure efficient day-to-day running of international imports. Day to day management of the supply chain team.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Reviewing stock on the water volumes to project inventory levels YOY and potential impacts to depot volumes
  • Reviewing container fill performance to identify actions to increase container utilisation and reduce cost per CBM shipped
  • Providing expertise and coaching on optimum importing solutions to internal teams to build positive understanding and perception of the imports function
  • Building effective relationships with external parties i.e. Freight forwarders and carriers.
  • Developing and agree long term plans with logistics teams, carriers and freight forwarders to manage significant intake volumes to ensure successful launches and maintain availability
  • Regularly communicate importing performance and priorities within the team to motivate, re-prioritise and gather ideas to improve container management to meet the needs of the supply chain
  • Developing strong working relationships with internal stakeholders: Trading, Logistics & Retail to achieve effective execution of imported stock delivery in line with business requirements

About You

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Expertise of global freight movement, importing principles and shipping
  • Experience with retail, seasonality and promotional cycles
  • Depot requirements for container handling both inbound & outbound
  • Experience with customer availability requirements
  • Commercial acumen to help deliver cost savings to the business
  • Ability to motivate and engage a team to deliver excellent results
  • Flexible and adaptable in order to lead a team in a high speed, reactionary retail environment
  • In depth experience of people management in an operational setting.
  • Experience of a retail/logistics background
  • Strong evidence of effective cross functional working and effective stakeholder management
