Supply Chain Manager x 2

£64.09 per hour (Inside IR35)
3-4 days a week on site - North West

Role Purpose
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading and managing supply chain activities across assigned programmes, products or business areas, ensuring the timely, cost-effective and compliant delivery of materials, components and services.
Working across procurement, engineering, manufacturing, quality, programme management and suppliers, the role will develop robust supply chain strategies, manage supplier performance and mitigate commercial and operational risks. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that supply chain capability supports operational, programme and customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead supply chain management activities across assigned programmes, projects or product areas.
- Develop and implement effective supply chain strategies aligned with business and programme requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure suppliers meet agreed requirements for cost, quality, delivery and performance.
- Monitor supplier performance using appropriate KPIs, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead or support supplier improvement and recovery plans where performance falls below requirements.
- Work closely with Procurement and Commercial teams on sourcing strategies, negotiations, contracts and supplier agreements.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, Finance and Programme Management to ensure supply chain requirements are understood and delivered.
- Identify, assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including capacity constraints, obsolescence, single-source dependencies and geopolitical or market-related disruption.
- Support business continuity and resilience planning across the supply base.
- Ensure suppliers comply with relevant contractual, quality, regulatory, security and ethical requirements.
- Lead supply chain reviews with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Use data and performance information to identify opportunities to improve cost, lead time, inventory, quality and delivery performance.
- Support new product introduction, engineering change and programme transitions from a supply chain perspective.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean, Six Sigma or other appropriate improvement methodologies.
- Ensure appropriate governance, documentation and reporting are maintained.
- Develop effective relationships with strategic suppliers and key internal stakeholders.
- Coach and develop supply chain professionals where the role has people-management responsibility.

Essential Experience
- Significant experience within supply chain, procurement, supplier management, manufacturing or a related environment.
- Proven experience managing suppliers and resolving complex supply chain issues.
- Experience operating in a complex, highly regulated or technically demanding organisation.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes.
- Experience using data, KPIs and performance analysis to drive decisions and improvements.
- Demonstrable experience of risk management, supplier performance management and business continuity.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence across organisational boundaries.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of contracts, cost drivers and supplier negotiations.
- Experience leading projects, improvement initiatives or cross-functional teams.

Desirable Experience
- Experience within aerospace, defence, engineering, advanced manufacturing or another highly regulated industry.
- Experience managing complex or strategic suppliers.
- Knowledge of defence or aerospace regulatory and quality requirements.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics.
- Formal qualification in supply chain, procurement or project management.
- Membership of a professional body such as CIPS or CILT.
- Experience working within programmes subject to security or export-control requirements.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree, equivalent qualification or substantial relevant professional experience in supply chain, procurement, business, engineering or a related discipline.
Desirable:
- CIPS, CILT or equivalent professional qualification.
- Supply chain, procurement or project-management certification.
- Lean/Six Sigma qualification.
