Job Summary
The Head of Supply Chain, Darley Dale is responsible for leading the supply chain operations and ensuring strategic alignment with company goals. This is a senior role, sitting as part of the Site Leadership team, and plays a critical role shaping the supply chain strategy, optimising processes, and ensuring the seamless delivery of raw materials and finished products.
Key Objectives Of The Role
- Take overall responsibility for the Supply Chain and Logistics department, to ensure the team is performing at a high level.
- Develop and implement a robust supply chain strategy that aligns with the company’s strategic objectives and industry demands. Analyse market trends and adapt strategies to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Manage supplier performance against agreed scorecard metrics and standards and producing standardised reports for the senior managers.
- Oversee all aspects of supply chain operations, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and compliance. Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop risk management strategies to handle supply chain vulnerabilities. Prepare contingency plans to ensure business continuity in case of supply chain disruptions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supply chain professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
- Collaborate closely with the Production, Quality, Technical, Finance and Commercial departments to forecast demand and ensure product availability.
- Prepare and manage the supply chain budget. Monitor and report on supply chain performance metrics to senior management.
- To future proof the supply chain function to ensure the capability to support an increasing orderbook.
- Integrating areas of the business that are new to the supply chain department (despatch team and production controller) and producing standard metrics for reporting in these areas.
- To behave in a way that is consistent with the organisation’s values of Quality, Collaboration, Integrity and Commitment

The Applicant
- Sophisticated planning and control experience at a leadership level
- Previous leadership over management is crucial
- Strategic and Analytical thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems
- Positive and pragmatic decision-making with strong business acumen and excellent customer service skills
- Ability to manage several activities and direct reports, building strong levels of capability and having the skills to delegate effectively.
- Ability to foster strong, working, collaborative relationships with customers is key.
- Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally to the business.
- The ability to inspire and lead the workforce as well as encourage their employees to contribute fully to achieve the objectives of the business
