Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The successful apprentice will support the supply chain operation across several departments, including:
- Goods in: book deliveries onto the stock system, label them and put them away in the right location
- Storage: scan pallets into warehouse locations and rotate stock so the oldest goes out first
- Production support: get materials ready for packing orders and scan products against each order
- Despatch: pick customer orders, build and label pallets, and load trailers safely
- Stock control: carry out stock counts, help with audits and report anything that doesn’t match
- Supplies: order consumables and keep track of pallets and crates
- Systems: keep records accurate using the Rubicon stock system
- Safety: follow food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
