The Promoting Independent Living Service (PILS)
The Promoting Independent Living Service (PILS) is a CQC Registered Service with a GOOD rating that supports citizens with learning disabilities and autism to live independently within their own homes.
We support people to develop confidence, build life skills, achieve personal goals and live as independently as they possibly can.
What is the job role?
As a Support Assistant, you will become a valued member of the team, having a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with the service users. You will need to be able to support service users with personal care if required as we are a domiciliary care service.

You will be part of a team providing high standards of person-centred support to our Service Users, supporting them to complete everyday living tasks, work towards achieving their personal goals, and enable them to live as independently as they can.
Shift patterns:
This is a 24/7 service where we have a range of shifts including early and late shifts, i.e., 7 am - 3 pm or 2 pm - 11 pm and form a set hour, fixed rolling 6-week rota pattern. Shifts vary for each post.
You may also be required to cover the sleeping-in shift for which an additional allowance is paid. There may also be occasions when you will be lone working.
Please do not apply if you cannot commit to this.
In addition, you will also receive a shift allowance of 14% and a sleep-in payment for each sleep-in duty completed.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
Who are we looking for?
You will be committed to:
- Providing a quality service by promoting the physical (including the administration of medication), emotional, social, and intellectual well-being of each service user.
- Ensuring that Health and Safety requirements are adhered to with due regard to service users, staff, and all persons accessing the tenancy.
- Safeguarding vulnerable adults.
- Making sure the service provided meets the needs and outcomes of each service user.
You’ll need:
- A formal qualification is not required to apply but you will be expected to complete a Diploma 2 in Health Social Care an agreed timescale.
- To have a basic knowledge of safeguarding, policies and procedures.
- To work with management to ensure that all service users’ needs are being met to support their outcomes.
- The ability to use own initiative and respond flexibly to the needs of service users promoting dignity, respect, and choice at all times.
