Support Coordinator - Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) Housing, Health & Wellbeing Service
Location: Severn House, Belmont, Durham DH1 1TH
Hours: Part Time – 22 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £25,877.80 - £34,240 per annum (pro rata)
Note: The salary listed reflects the full earning potential for this role. Starting salaries depend on experience and progression within the band.

About the Service
The Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) Housing, Health & Wellbeing Service supports adults across County Durham to access safe accommodation, improve their health and wellbeing, and live independently. Working in partnership with local authorities, health services and community organisations, the service provides practical, person-centred support to people living on council sites, in social or private housing, and on roadside encampments.
Through outreach, advocacy and tailored support, we help reduce barriers to essential services while empowering people to achieve positive, lasting outcomes.

We're looking for a compassionate and proactive Support Coordinator to join our dedicated team and make a real difference to the lives of people from the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community.

This is a varied, community-based role where no two days are the same. You'll provide personalised housing, health and wellbeing support to adults across County Durham, helping them overcome barriers, maintain their independence and access the services they need to thrive.
You'll manage your own caseload, carrying out needs and risk assessments, developing person-centred support plans and working alongside a wide range of partner organisations to help people achieve sustainable outcomes. The role also includes delivering tenancy readiness support, advocating on behalf of individuals and building positive relationships with communities that may traditionally face barriers to accessing services.
Whether you're supporting someone to secure suitable accommodation, improve their wellbeing or navigate local services, you'll play an important role in helping people live the life they value.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred services.
You'll be confident working independently within the community while also being a collaborative member of a supportive team. You'll have excellent communication skills, be organised in managing a varied caseload and enjoy building positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Experience of supporting vulnerable adults to achieve greater independence.
- Knowledge of housing options, welfare benefits and relevant legislation.
- Experience of completing support planning, risk assessments and maintaining accurate case records.
- An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and best practice.
- Experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies and professionals.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- An NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this qualification.
