Hiring: Field Network Engineer / Telecommunications Engineer

Location: Glasgow, UK
Work Type: Field-Based
Contract Inside IR35
Rate: 200 - 280 GBP/Day

We are looking for an experienced Field Network Engineer / Telecommunications Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and assurance of critical telecommunications and network infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on field engineer with experience in telecom networks, network equipment, installation, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and onsite technical support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, commission, and maintain telecommunications and network equipment.
  • Deliver network installation, assurance, maintenance, and fault-resolution activities.
  • Support LAN/WAN, IP networking, routing, switching, and network connectivity.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Support project delivery while ensuring work is completed within agreed quality, safety, and customer requirements.
  • Identify technical risks and issues and escalate them appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, test results, and technical documentation.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with project engineers, technical teams, customers, and service-support teams.
  • Participate in planned maintenance and out-of-hours support activities where required.

Core Skills

  • Hands-on experience in telecommunications or field network engineering.
  • Experience with network equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, IP networking, routing, and switching.
  • Experience with Cisco and/or Alcatel networking technologies.
  • Exposure to telecom transmission technologies such as PDH, SDH, microwave radio, Commtel, or Xtran.
  • Experience with DC/AC power systems or DC charger equipment is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring, fault management, and network assurance.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a field-based environment.
  • Full UK driving licence is preferred.
