Support Engineer
Location: Southampton
Salary: £27,000 per annum
Type: Permanent
The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Support Engineer to join an established installation team, working on warden call and life-safety systems in Southampton.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is technically minded, practical and keen to develop a long-term career within the warden call and life-safety industry.
No previous warden call experience is required, with full on-the-job training provided. As you develop your skills, you will have the opportunity to progress towards testing, commissioning and programming warden call systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced installation and commissioning engineers.
- Assist with the installation of warden call systems.
- Carry out first-fix cable installation and containment.
- Install second-fix equipment, including call points, speech units, pull cords and interface units.
- Terminate, label and connect cables and equipment.
- Assist with cable testing, fault identification and functional testing.
- Read and follow basic drawings, cable schedules and installation instructions.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship.
- Communicate professionally with residents, clients and other contractors.
- Complete installation records and project documentation.
- Follow all health & safety procedures, RAMS and site requirements.

Training & Development
Full training will be provided, allowing you to develop your knowledge of:
- Warden call systems
- Life-safety systems
- First and second-fix installation
- Cable termination and testing
- Fault finding
As your experience develops, you will have the opportunity to progress towards working independently and undertaking testing, programming and commissioning.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Comfortable using hand tools.
- Able to follow drawings, instructions and safe systems of work.
- A good team player.
- Professional and respectful when working in residents' homes and communal areas.
- Looking to build a long-term career within the industry.

Previous experience in electrical installation, cabling, construction, fire & security, telecoms or similar practical environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to complete relevant training and site inductions.
- Ability to satisfy any required security screening.
- Desirable: CSCS/ECS, Asbestos Awareness, IPAF or PASMA.
