Support the frontline work that keeps our customers safe and our network running

As our Support Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting frontline repair activities across our gas network. This isn't just about responding to gas escapes – it's about helping deliver safe, efficient and reliable services for the millions of customers who depend on us every day.

Based in and around the Norwich/Suffolk area, you'll work closely with a Team Leader and wider operational teams to support emergency response, repairs and network maintenance activities. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience while helping to protect our infrastructure, support customers and maintain high standards of safety and compliance.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, thrives in a team environment and is looking to build a long-term career within a vital industry.

As this role requires the use of respiratory protective equipment, you'll need to be clean shaven each day in line with health and safety requirements. The role also includes participation in a 1-in-6 standby rota and associated call-out responsibilities.

Why you'll love this role:

  • Frontline Network Support – Attend gas escapes and support repair activities that help keep customers and communities safe.
  • Varied Operational Work – Assist with groundwork, excavations, reinstatements and a range of network maintenance activities.
  • Safety First – Promote safe working practices, using appropriate signing, lighting, guarding and cable avoidance techniques.
  • Team Collaboration – Work closely with Team Leaders and operational colleagues to deliver high-quality services.
  • Network Protection – Support patrol and plant protection activities that help safeguard Cadent assets.
  • Career Development – Benefit from structured training, funded learning and excellent opportunities to progress your career.
  • Reward & Benefits – Receive a company van, monthly performance bonus opportunities, excellent pension contributions and access to a wide range of employee benefits.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
