The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Northeast Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) and play a vital role in supporting the fight against serious and organised crime. Working at the heart of the unit, you will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to senior leaders, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient running of critical operations that protect communities across the Northeast. From coordinating complex meetings and managing sensitive information to maintaining key records and information systems, your contribution will directly support those tackling some of the region’s most significant criminal threats. If you are highly organised, adaptable and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide professional administrative and secretarial support to the Head of NEROCU, Senior Management Team and wider unit, helping to ensure the smooth running of business activities.
  • Coordinate meetings with colleagues, partner agencies and police forces across the region, arranging schedules, preparing documentation and handling sensitive information in line with GDPR and Data Protection requirements.
  • Manage senior leaders’ diaries, organise appointments and meetings, and collate relevant papers and briefing materials to support effective decision-making.
  • Produce high-quality documents, correspondence and meeting minutes, ensuring information is accurate, clear and completed within required timescales.
  • Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets and other information systems, supporting the production of statistical information, audits and performance monitoring activities.
  • Process incoming mail and correspondence, operate document tracking systems, and provide a range of clerical and administrative support to help the department deliver its objectives efficiently and effectively.

What You’ll Bring

  • GCSE qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent), together with strong IT skills and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience of preparing and recording accurate meeting minutes and maintaining confidential records.
  • Experience in an administrative, PA, secretariat or similar support role, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong planning and time management skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build positive working relationships and communicate professionally with senior leaders, colleagues, partner agencies and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to use your own initiative, solve problems, learn new skills quickly and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • An ability to travel independently to Force and partner locations to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of the role.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
