NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The Role
The predominant purpose of the Support Service Assistant role is to provide a quality domestic and catering services ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors. Please note within the Health centres it is a core cleaning service only.
- You will be following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired infection (HAI_ Task Force Code of Practice)
- There is the requirement to rotate around our clinical areas and all departments
- Present an efficient, high quality service to patients and staff
- Follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas
- Have a flexible approach to daily routine
- Use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions
- Use of mechanical cleaning equipment
- Inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials as required
- Check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment
- Wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department
- Complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work
- All necessary training will be offered to ensure your working environment is safe, and you are confident within your role
Driving licence would be beneficial.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours
- This is a permanent, part-time post of 15.2 hours per week
- The role is based at Pollok Health Centre
- The shift pattern is 16.45-20.00 Monday-Thursday, Friday 16.45-18.57

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Knowledge of all aspects Integrated Service as in job purpose (Induction training provided)
- Training in the use of all machinery used (Training provided)
- Knowledge of Health and Safety (Training provided)
- Knowledge of COSHH (Training provided)
- Knowledge of Lifting and Handling (Training provided)
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate (Training provided)
- Knowledge of Infection Control practices (Training provided)
- For tasks involving driving duties, a driving licence is necessary
