Technician – Support Services (Procurement)
Circa £28,080 dependent on skills and experience
Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week
Huntingdon

This exciting role provides a procurement service to the laboratories and field-based functions. As part of this role you’ll liaise with suppliers of services to the laboratory and sampling functions and provide a facilities service for the laboratories.
Key responsibilities:
- Procurement activities including SAP ordering, monitoring of temporary staff contracts/orders, and day to day operation of contracts for the supply of lab chemicals and equipment
- Ensure efficiencies in ordering and looking at internal processes where needed for improvement
- Be the first point of contact to deal with any enquiries relating to ordering or delivery of goods and / or services
- Maintain SAP in line with training and guidance
- Vendor management and contact where required
- Reports for key vendors and spend management
- Look at KPIs and help troubleshoot bottleneck areas

Provide support to the Operational Support Manager by:
- Deal with general lab service queries
- Ensure all visitors to site are signed in and supervised during their visit
- Prepare meeting rooms and ensure all consumables are available
- Make staff aware of deliveries

- Able to communicate with people at all levels
- Reliable and committed
- Able to deal with answering account queries, processing payments and being an excellent first point of contact
- Ideally you will be SAP trained
- Ability to help customers over the phone and in person
- Able to prioritise effectively
- Accurate data input into various databases and spreadsheets
- Confident telephone manner
- Ideally an understanding of a Laboratory environment
