Company Description
Active Minds is a welcoming community day centre supporting people aged 50 and over who are living with dementia, social isolation, anxiety, and depression. We provide person-centred care and engaging activities that promote wellbeing, independence, and meaningful social connections. Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive environment where every individual and their carer feels valued, supported, and empowered to live well.
Role Description
As part of our supportive team, you will:
- Build trusting and respectful relationships with centre members, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity, compassion, and empathy.
- Provide personal care where required, including assistance with toileting, mobility, and eating, while always promoting independence and preserving privacy.
- Support and encourage participation in a wide range of engaging activities, including:
- Music therapy
- Exercise and wellbeing sessions
- Arts and crafts
- Baking
- Gardening
- Games and quizzes
- Cultural celebrations
- Community events and social activities
- Help reduce loneliness and social isolation by creating a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
- Assist with meal preparation and service, encouraging good nutrition and hydration, and supporting members who require assistance during mealtimes.
- Support members safely during outings and day trips, including transport where applicable.
- Observe and record changes in wellbeing, reporting any concerns promptly to the management team or relevant professionals.
- Work closely with families, carers, healthcare professionals, and colleagues to provide holistic, person-centred support.
- Assist with cleaning and sanitisation duties to ensure the centre remains safe, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and consistently demonstrate the values of Active Minds.

Previous experience in care or support work is desirable but not essential. We value the right attitude and will provide training and ongoing support for the right candidate.

What we Offer:
- £21,149 per annum
- Fixed daytime hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm, 4 days per week.
