As a Support Worker in Porthmadog, Gwynedd, you’ll help make everyday life more meaningful, enjoyable, and rewarding for the people we support.

Our sessional day service supports people with learning disabilities to get out, get involved, and make the most of their local community. From trying new activities to building confidence and independence, you’ll play a vital role in helping people enjoy fulfilling lives on their own terms.

Role: Support Worker

Location: Porthmadog, Gwynedd

Hours: We have both part-time and full-time hours, please speak to us about the hours you are looking to do. Your shift pattern will include weekends.

Salary: £13.59 per hour and our sleep-in shifts at £60 per night and our travel expenses are paid 55p per mile

Contract: Permanent

What you’ll be doing:

As a Support Worker, you’ll provide flexible, person-centred support through our sessional day service, working across Clwb Cartrefi, out in the community, and in people’s own homes.

You’ll support individuals to make their own choices and work towards their personal goals — from deciding what to wear, eat, or do each day, to bigger decisions about where they live, managing their money, or going on holiday.

No experience required as full training is provided. We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have patience and empathy
  • Can support a person with their intimate personal care with respect and dignity
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Are able to speak on behalf of others as well as to a range of professional people
  • Have good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy and meaning
  • Have a full driving licence - essential for transporting individuals to appointments and activities
  • Have access to your own car and are happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 55p per mile to cover this
  • Being fluent in Welsh is preferred so you can effectively communicate with Welsh-speaking service users and meet their cultural and linguistic needs
