Manpower is currently seeking an interim SHE Support professional to join a leading global FMCG organisation and become an integral part of its fast-paced environment.
The position is based at the client's Research & Development facility at Colworth Science Park in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire (MK44), which is accessible by car.
This is a full-time temporary role for six months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role offers a competitive salary of up to £53,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
About the Role
The site's processing team is seeking an experienced Safety, Health and Environment professional to provide temporary support within its global innovation centre.
Reporting to the Manufacturing & Engineering Manager, you will act as the primary contact for safety, health and environmental matters relating to the client's operations at Colworth. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can work autonomously, make informed decisions and take ownership of site SHE priorities.
The immediate focus will be split between practical SHE support and audit readiness, including reviewing documentation, identifying gaps and ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
Experience within FMCG or an R&D environment would be advantageous; however, candidates with strong SHE experience gained within other manufacturing, engineering or operational environments will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main safety and health contact for the client's operations at Colworth, providing practical support to employees, visitors and contractors.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring the site is prepared and resulting actions are completed.
- Review SHE documentation, procedures and controls, identifying gaps and implementing improvements.
- Lead or support incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
- Create and maintain a safety inspection programme, ensuring actions are recorded and closed within agreed timescales.
- Monitor and report safety performance and leading indicators, including audits and behavioural observations.
- Promote a strong behavioural safety culture and encourage near-miss reporting.
- Support PUWER compliance by ensuring equipment risk assessments, operating procedures and training records are current.
- Oversee contractor safety and permit-to-work requirements.
- Provide SHE metrics and updates for site leadership.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support environmental compliance and reporting, including waste management and sustainability initiatives.
- Help identify opportunities to reduce waste, water and electricity use.
- Support the investigation and reporting of environmental incidents.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
