Summary
Support Worker – Ystrad Mynach
Are you adaptable, calm under pressure, and passionate about supporting people to live life their way? We're looking for caring, committed, and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our friendly team in Ystrad Mynach, supporting one lady and two gentlemen in a supported living bungalow.
This isn't about fitting people into routines. It's about supporting people to make their own choices, have their voices heard, and live the lives they choose. Plans can change, no two days are the same, and we're looking for people who can think on their feet, stay positive, and find solutions rather than barriers.
You'll be someone who puts the people we support at the centre of every decision, working with people, not for them to encourage independence, build confidence, and maximise choice and control over their lives. You'll respect individual preferences and wishes, communicate with empathy, listen carefully, and adapt positively when plans change.
We're looking for someone who can think creatively, problem-solve, and find solutions rather than barriers, encouraging people to take part in activities at home and in their community. Most importantly, you'll have a genuinely person-centred approach, always asking "How can we make this happen?" rather than "Why can't it be done?".
We have part-time opportunities available at 28 and 32 hours per week. Our service operates 24/7 and flexibility is essential. Shift patterns include: 7am-3pm, 11am-7pm, 3pm-9.30pm with waking nights and sleep in shifts in addition to day shifts. You'll work as part of a rolling rota, helping to provide consistent, high-quality support. A full UK driving licence is required as you'll be driving manual & automatic Motability vehicles.

About The Role
In this relaxed and friendly home, you'll support one lady and two gentlemen aged in their 60s and 70s to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
One gentleman has a real passion for music and films, enjoys getting out into the community, browsing charity shops, and spending weekends with his sister. The people we support enjoy making their own choices about how they spend their time, and your role will be to help turn those choices into reality.
You'll use a Motability vehicle to support individuals to access the community, appointments, activities, and social opportunities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting people with daily living activities.
- Promoting choice, independence, and wellbeing.
- Providing personal care and support where required.
- Using equipment such as hoists safely following training.
- Dispensing and administering medication.
- Supporting people to access activities, hobbies, and community opportunities.
- Maintaining accurate digital records using the Nourish system.
- Working collaboratively with families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.

Skills And Experience Needed
A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.

Pay And Benefits
- £25,877 (£13.45 per hour)
- Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift - approx. 1 per week
- Waking night rate: 20% Enhancement from 11pm to 7am
- Enhanced DBS which we will pay for
- Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed
