I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As written by her...

“As a graduate with a Master of Arts in Creative Writing, I am currently working on several creative fictional pieces, including a book of short stories and fantasy fiction novel series. I will need help on brainstorming creative ideas and help keep me motivated as an aspiring author as well as scribing for me. I will also need assistance in contacting agencies, editors, and publishers to try to get my work published, or assistance with self publishing. I will also need support in podcasting technology and uploading them to various platforms, as well as research and assistance to start up my business, although previous experience in this isn’t necessary.

I am a bubbly, friendly person who is up for a laugh. I love a challenge. I love going out, going to the cinema, going to coffee shops or for a bite to eat and will need assistance on these outings. I also love to just stay in and chill, watching films and writing. I’m a big fan of Harry Potter, Once Upon a Time, Waterloo Road, Bridgerton, and Fate the Winx Saga, as well as an avid notebook shopper. I dislike horror, thriller and action films.

My disability is Cerebral Palsy which affects my legs and my left arm. This has affected me in many ways but the main effects are with my mobility.”
