Make Every Day Matter

We are looking for a caring, compassionate, committed and motivated Support Worker to join our Supported Living team, with a focus on person centred care and support, helping people to maintain independence and make choices about the lives they want to live, capturing ‘Every Voice, Every Day’.

Salford City Council is continuing to strengthen and evolve its Adult Social Care services, with a clear commitment to inclusion, innovation and personcentred practice. Our new Provider Services arm of Adult Social Care supports Salford people to live fulfilling, independent and connected lives. Provider Services support people with learning disabilities, autism, dementia, mental health needs, physical disabilities and complex care conditions, helping people to achieve their goals and to live their life, their way, by giving people greater choice and control and being part of person-centred planning.

This is an opportunity to work in a forward-thinking service that values professional expertise, partnership working and creative approaches to support.

About The Role

As a Support Worker you will tailor person centred care with the individual needs of people, aspirations and outcomes. You will work with senior Support Workers to embed strategies and approaches to meet the needs of people supported.

This role supports people with low to moderate care and support needs, enabling them to live as independently as possible and focuses on providing practical assistance, encouragement and guidance rather than undertaking complex care interventions.

Your Role Will Involve

  • Ensuring the person is at the heart of everything we do
  • Supporting people with daily living activities and personal care
  • Supporting people with health, wellbeing and medication needs
  • Encouraging participation in social leisure and community activities
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting any concerns
  • Supporting people to develop positive relationships and to be an equal and valued member of their local community

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a skilled and values-driven support worker who has:

  • A caring, practical and person-centred approach
  • Previous experience in providing care and support
  • Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with people who use services, their families, carers and colleagues
  • Good communication skills with the ability to adapt approaches to meet the needs of individuals
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
  • Flexibility in your approach to working patterns and service needs
  • Commitment to learning and professional development
