Job Description

GMB North-East, Yorkshire & Humber Region is currently seeking applications for two Support Workers to be based in the Regions Casework and Organising Team at our Wakefield Office.

GMB is one of the UK and Ireland’s largest trade unions; we’re proud to represent over half a million people from across the professional spectrum and all walks of life.

This is an exciting role, where you will be responsible for assisting the Team with administration and support, working closely and collaboratively with members to ensure a professional and efficient service for members.

The successful candidates will need to be aware that they may on occasions be expected to travel to locations in the Region, and to cover between Teams.

This is a dynamic role that will allow the successful candidates to be actively involved in the direct support and assistance of members. You should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications and communicate well both verbally and via email.

We are looking for an excellent and professional telephone manner as this role involves dealing with telephone calls, the recording of accurate case information, providing a competent and professional administrative support for the Team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
