Supported Accommodation Officer

Application Deadline: 25 August 2026

Department: Residential

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Camborne, Pool & Redruth

Reporting To: Vic Morris

Compensation: £30,233 / year

Description

We are seeking a compassionate Supported Accommodation Officer to work alongside people who have experienced homelessness and are now living in our properties. You will use a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to create a safe, welcoming environment, recognising residents’ strengths, lived experiences, and right to make informed choices.

This is a rewarding role for someone committed to empowering individuals, promoting dignity, and supporting residents to achieve greater stability, independence, and wellbeing. Residents may arrive with a range of experiences and needs beyond housing. During their stay, you will support them in identifying and addressing these needs, working collaboratively with voluntary and statutory agencies to ensure coordinated, compassionate care.

You will also ensure that the properties are kept to a good standard as well as carrying out basic financial and administration functions in the operation of the house.

The exact hours and locations of your work will vary, based on the needs of the organisation. You must be flexible, and some evening and weekend work will be required. You will also be expected to participate in the on-call system (approximately 1 week in 8) to provide emergency cover (by telephone or at the premises) during normal working hours.

Interviews are expected to take place on Tuesday 1st September.

Many of our staff work flexibly, including part-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need. We can’t promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.

What you'll be doing.

  • Provide trauma-informed, person-centred support that promotes safety, dignity, and choice.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Work alongside residents to identify goals and support needs in a collaborative and strengths-based way, co-creating support plans and outcome stars that empower personal development and support progress towards secure, permanent accommodation.
  • Liaise with voluntary and statutory agencies to help coordinate appropriate support.
  • Work collaboratively with residents to build confidence and the necessary skills to engage with external agencies and authorities, empowering them to manage their own benefits and access other necessary services themselves.
  • Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality policies and procedures.
  • Raise awareness of the services and support networks available through St Petrocs and partner organisations, helping residents to access opportunities that meet their needs – including training and employment.
  • Encourage positive health attitudes among residents such as ensuring registration with a local G.P., etc.
  • Support residents to understand accommodation charges and manage payments confidently and on time.
  • Work with residents to promote understanding of their rights and responsibilities, including their right to complain or provide feedback on services.
  • Create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the house and encourage the participation and involvement of each resident, including in regular house meetings.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and security of the building, and ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations in accordance with our policies and procedures.
  • Carry out practical tasks relating to the day-to-day efficient running of the house, including minor general maintenance, obtaining household supplies and arranging repairs and replacements, etc.
  • Provide an on-call service for emergencies across all services during normal working hours (approximately 1 week in every 8). Back-up support will always be available.
  • Support the turnaround of empty rooms as quickly as possible so that beds are never left unused when people urgently need them.
  • Maintain efficient administration systems including the daily diary, confidential personal files, and accident/incident reports.
  • Work within an agreed budget and maintain records in accordance with our policies and procedures (e.g. payment of weekly charges, records, petty cash systems, etc.)
  • Ensure all income is accurately recorded and handled in a secure manner.
  • Work in other areas of the service as required.
  • Attend events as a positive ambassador for St Petrocs, promoting and raising awareness of its services and inspiring existing and potential supporters.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
