⭐ Experience supporting vulnerable adults in housing, social care or a related setting is essential
This is a rewarding role supporting vulnerable adults to maintain their tenancies, develop independence and move towards longer-term accommodation. We’re looking for someone who is non-judgemental, resilient, calm under pressure and committed to supporting people to achieve positive outcomes.
Job purpose
The Supported Housing Officer manages a caseload of tenants living in exempt accommodation, supported housing where rent is paid through Housing Benefit because tenants receive more than minimal care, support or supervision.
The role combines tenancy management with direct housing-related support. It helps tenants keep their homes, stay safe and build the skills to move on to independent living. The postholder makes sure the support delivered is real, recorded and evidenced, so that the service meets Housing Benefit requirements, local authority standards and the National Statement of Expectations for supported housing.
Key responsibilities
Support planning and delivery
- Complete needs and risk assessments for new tenants, and review them regularly or when circumstances change.
- Develop person-centred support plans with tenants, setting clear goals that lead towards independence.
- Hold regular 1-1 key work sessions covering budgeting, benefits, health, wellbeing, education, training and employment.
- Record all support accurately on the case management system, so that it evidences the care, support or supervision provided.
- Help tenants access specialist services such as mental health, substance misuse, learning disability and domestic abuse support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
