Come and make a difference at Karbon as a Supported Housing Officer - Part time based in Gosforth or Newburn

We're looking for a passionate and skilled individual to join us as a part time Supported Housing Officer in our Supported Housing Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that's making a real difference in people's lives. This is a part time position covering Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

About The Role

This role will provide an effective housing management service to all of our supported housing customers to include void management, scheme inspections, allocations, anti-social behaviour (ASB) and wider tenancy enforcement. You'll carry out accompanied viewings with customers, complete tenancy sign ups with all of our supported housing. You'll proactively manage tenancies to encourage tenancy sustainability. This will include regular customer visits, referrals to other Karbon services and liaison with external voluntary and statutory agencies.

You'll also be responsible for monitoring and reviewing Managing Agents and other external stakeholders.

About You

You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload often working to targets and tight deadlines. You will be part of a team but the role does require the ability to work on your own initiative and carry out lone working in the community and in tenant's homes. Previous knowledge and experience within a social housing environment, housing legislation and knowledge of allocating and sustaining supported housing tenancies would be an advantage.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
