Core Responsibilities:
- To assist the Surety team in maintaining and expanding a profitable Surety account in accordance with Line of Business (LOB) business plans.
- To maintain a focus on bottom line underwriting profit for the company.
- To monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.
- To underwrite in compliance with Everest prescribed underwriting standards and authorities.
- To refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority.
- To represent Everest at meetings in the office and during visits to brokers and customers as required.
- To assist in developing and maintaining existing client and broker relationships and developing new relationships where this is consistent with Everest Surety management objectives.
- To liaise with the Claims Manager and Head of International Surety on any claims related issues and to participate in account and management reviews.
- To contribute to the regular analysis and review of underwriting practices and procedures.
- To participate in the underwriting peer review process at the weekly underwriting meetings.
- To assist in the improvement of Everest Surety’s management information systems, rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, website and risk management and claims functions.
- To enhance the profile of Everest Insurance among Surety brokers and customers primarily in the European market

Skills & Competencies:
- Previous experience within an Underwriting / Credit role as well as good technical knowledge of Surety and/or banking business.
- Judgement / decision making skills – ability to use logic rationality and objectivity in decision making.
- Risk taking – ability to take calculated risks with favourable outcomes. Excellent negotiation skills.
- Compliance – ability to ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls.
- Solid market and product knowledge – maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products.
- Relationship building – ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships both internally and externally.
