Survey Installation Design Engineer - Agile / Hybrid Working (Work from home and travel to customer sites across the UK and occasional team meetings at Telent locations)
At Telent (part of M Group), we're looking for x2 Survey Installation Design Engineers to join our Network Services Installation Design Engineering team. Working on large-scale, secure infrastructure programmes in the MOD portfolio, you'll conduct technical site surveys, assess existing network environments, and produce high-quality installation design documentation that supports critical customer projects.
This is a hybrid role with the majority of time spent working remotely, combined with travel to customer sites UK wide, typically up to once per week, and travelling to a Telent office for collaborative team meetings once every six weeks. Full UK driving license and SC Clearance (or eligibility for SC Clearance) is required.
What you'll do:
- Conduct technical site surveys and assessments of network cabinets, cabling infrastructure, containment systems and power availability.
- Produce detailed site survey reports and installation design documentation to support network upgrade and deployment projects.
- Create equipment layout drawings, rack face layouts, cable schedules, label schedules and installation guides.
- Produce and maintain configuration management and as-fitted documentation packs.
- Review project scope, identify installation design requirements and support project mobilisation activities.
- Engage with project teams, engineers, customers and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Support field-based installation teams and ensure designs comply with relevant installation standards and quality requirements.

Who you are:
You are an experienced telecommunications or network infrastructure professional with a strong understanding of installation design principles and site survey / site surveying activities. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, have excellent attention to detail, and can confidently communicate technical information to a variety of stakeholders.
You are comfortable travelling to customer locations and thrive in environments where safety, quality and customer focus are central to everything you do. Experience supporting secure, critical infrastructure environments would be advantageous.
Key Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
- Current SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain SC Clearance.
- Experience delivering telecommunications, network infrastructure or installation design projects.
- Knowledge of ICT cabling systems, network cabinets, containment systems and power distribution.
- Experience producing technical design documentation using tools such as Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining high levels of quality and accuracy.

Desirable:
- Experience working within Defence, Government, Public Sector, Critical National Infrastructure or similarly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of ICT installation standards and industry best practices.
- Experience interpreting technical drawings and design documentation.
- Fibre, copper or structured cabling qualifications.
- CSCS Card and awareness of CDM regulations.
