Survey Technician (Measured Building Surveys)

This is a hands-on, site-based surveying role. Boots on, laser scanner in hand, in real buildings across the UK.

Location: London, with regular travel to sites across the UK

Working pattern: Site and studio-based, full time

Software: Matterport, laser scanning and point cloud, Vectorworks

Sector: Hospitality, leisure, retail, and commercial fit-out

About the Studio

A London design and project delivery group working across hospitality, leisure, retail, and commercial interiors.

Two closely linked businesses, one integrated team: the designers who draw it, and the delivery team who build it.

Survey information sits right at the front of that process. Get it right and everything downstream runs smoothly. Get it wrong and everyone finds out later, expensively.

About the Role

You will be the person who goes to site first.

Visiting live buildings, occupied spaces, and construction sites, you will carry out detailed measured surveys and capture everything the design team needs to produce accurate existing-condition drawings. Matterport, laser scanners, and point-cloud capture are your everyday kit, and it all needs to land cleanly in Vectorworks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

It is a shared role across both businesses, so you will be the link between design and delivery on anything survey-related. A great first step for a built-environment graduate who would rather be out on site than behind a desk all week.

Your Days Will Look Something Like This

  • Reviewing briefs and existing drawings before you get to site
  • Measuring walls, floor areas, ceiling heights, structural elements, and changes in level
  • Recording doors, windows, stairs, columns, services, and fixtures in enough detail to draw from
  • Running Matterport and laser scanning equipment, and capturing point-cloud data
  • Building a clear photographic record that someone who has never visited can follow
  • Processing and checking your data, then getting it into a format the designers can use
  • Flagging anything that does not match the existing drawings
  • Coordinating site access and juggling several surveys at once

You Might Be Our Perfect Match If

  • You have a degree in a built-environment subject such as building surveying, architectural technology, architecture, construction, civil engineering, or geomatics
  • You read technical drawings comfortably and have a good feel for scale and space
  • You are precise, methodical, and check your own work
  • You are happy on site, in half-finished buildings or busy occupied ones
  • You are organised and keep files and photos in good order without being chased
  • You are keen to travel to sites regularly
  • Bonus points for any Matterport, laser scanning, Vectorworks, AutoCAD, or Revit experience, or a CSCS card
