Role Overview
We are currently working in partnership with a Building Surveying firm, who are recruiting for a Surveyor to carry out pre-purchase residential building surveys on a permanent basis.
Location and Salary
The position is available across Taunton, Bristol and surrounding areas, with a salary of £35,000–£45,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Work Arrangements
The successful candidate will work from home five days per week, with residential properties allocated within a local area close to their home.
Key Requirements
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience carrying out residential building surveys
- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience using Microsoft Word and CRM systems to produce professional survey reports
Duties Include:
- Carrying out one pre-purchase residential building survey per day
- Attending residential properties allocated within a local area close to your home
- Inspecting properties internally and externally to assess their overall condition
- Identifying and recording building defects, damage, deterioration and maintenance issues
- Assessing elements including roofs, walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors and external areas
- Identifying areas requiring further investigation or specialist advice
- Gathering all relevant information required to produce accurate survey reports
- Returning home following inspections to write and complete survey reports remotely
- Producing clear, accurate and professional pre-purchase survey reports for residential clients
- Managing your daily schedule to ensure inspections and reports are completed within the required timescales

Experience Required:
- Experience carrying out residential building surveys
- Experience inspecting residential properties and identifying defects and maintenance issues
- Experience producing professional written survey reports
- Experience using Microsoft Word and CRM systems
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required:
- Strong knowledge of residential property condition and building defects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage your own workload and daily schedule effectively
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Full UK Driving Licence
